Now the Audience Chooses the Beats at Live Concerts, Thanks to Twitter

Have you ever left a concert feeling jipped because the artist didn’t play that one song you love the most? We know we have.

Well, fear not — Because now musicians like country star Kenny Chesney are using social media to listen to their fans.

As part of the American Express concert tour, his concerts have been streamed live online, garnering over 100 million views. (1)

And at one Chesney concert in Wildwood, NJ, these online viewers “earned” an extra song…By tweeting for it! (1)

Kelly Clarkson is also paving the way for increased social media interaction during live concerts. She asked her followers what song they would like her to sing a cover of. One lucky fan got her wish, and Clarkson sang a cover of the song “Creep” by Radiohead per her request. (1)

Teen heartthrobs One Direction have also taken social media into their own hands, answering questions directly off Twitter during their concerts to thrill and delight their crowd.

But what if these superstars could ask questions of their fans, and create set lists directly based upon what their fans want to hear? With these responses aggregated in real time, allowing for on-the-fly decisions to be made…that kind of power could change the entire experience of a concert.
