In a Modern Market, Social Media Really #Counts
Stinkdigital has modified a vastly popular product, the Nike+ FuelBand, and transformed it from a physical fitness monitor into a Twitter popularity monitor.
The Nike+ FuelBand monitors physical activity, coining it as “NikeFuel.” NikeFuel points are delegated to the user as he or she racks up activity throughout the day. But now, Stinkdigital has hacked the FuelBand to measure “TweetFuel.”
TweetFuel is a measure of a company’s success with Twitter. TweetFuel is measured as a result of activity on Twitter (instead of physical activity).
The Stinkdigital TweetFuel account accumulates points by engaging in “social activity”: Each time the account gets a retweet, new followers, or mentions, points are added to the TweetFuel count.
How does it work? When Twitter activity occurs, Stinkdigital’s modified FuelBand machine will rotate. The number of twists that the FuelBand machine makes helps to calculate the TweetFuel.
Pretty cool.
